Re: P5B Plus Q6600 only uses one core


I tried a repair. Now I am working on fresh installs. Winxp Sp 2 does
not recognize multiprocessor. See my other reply for the sad tale of
woe.

I just set up a new system using the P5B Plus and a q6600 processor.
It appears that it is only using one of the cores on the processor.
Windows task manager only shows one window. The system runs slower
than the old 2.6G processor it was supposed to replace. Is the

Did you do a fresh install of windows?..

If the p5b had say a p4 or any other single core cpu, then swapping
out the cpu and starting the pc (after windows is installd ofc) will
result in just 1 cpu being used..

So I guess that's the best place to start..
Fresh INSTALL of windows (and what version of windows?)
