Re: a8n sli delux chipset/bios problems

I looked through several hundred old posts, didn't see anything to help.

I have the a8n sli delux, phoenix bios v 1004, and I put a dual core 4400 in it. Ran just fine, but does not show up as a dual core.

89 watt or 110 watt? Asus says it makes a difference.

How do I find out?

I need to update the bios, but for most of them I need to update the chipset drivers.

Yep.

And when I do that (Chipset_Win2K3_V666.zip) I reboot, and then Every browser I start up crashes to blue screen, requiring I re-clone the system disk to eliminate that.

Are you running server 2003 64 bit or 32 bit?

I'm not running server at all, this is win2k pro sp4, with a lot more updates after that.

did you get the appropriate chipset driver they're different fot 64/32 bit?

yes

Did you install the chipset driver before you updated the bios as per the ASUS warnings?

As I said,

I need to update the bios, but for most of them I need to update the chipset drivers.

Have you tried removeing your browser software then installing the latest version?

This happens with Any browser-like software, including the AsusUpdater. It's not the browser.

The asus site is a nightmare for me. I try turning off my security, but all that @#$$! webcode is a major mess, much of it doesn't work. I don't know if it would be any good if I could navigate it, since their language skills leave so much to be desired.

What bios do I actually need to have this system see my 4400 as a dual core, and what chipset? Can anyone get me direct links to the files on asus site?

Gotta answer previous questions before I can answer the last.

Well there you have it. How do I find out about 89 vs 110 watt, and where does asus say anything about that?

Thanks.
