I have found even after installing xp sp2 the devices do not
automatically go to usb2 or enhanced usb etc.
I have had to manaully go to device manager, and right click on the
usb hub or one of the usb devices, and install driver...it then
searches the computer and installs the usb2
sometimes you get a little yellow warning triangle telling you the
device is not installed...but no always...I have managed to get it
from saying usb to enhanced - usb which then runs at usb2 speeds.

Updating the driver for the Enhanced USB Controller in Device Manager was one of the first things I tried.
Unfortunately there are no updated USB 2 drivers for Win XP SP2, for any hardware, available anywhere (note the legal phrasing on the VIA web-site - means Microsoft have put the frighteners on them). So, naturally, the driver update wizard reports that no drivers better than the ones already installed can be found. Result: no change to system operation.
