I'm getting slow throughput on Plextor 716-A dvd burner. Mostly when
making
burns. Is there a bios setting I've overlooked. When burning, the drive
seems to stop and start every 5-10 seconds.
P5B mainboard
Western Digital Pata 250meg
2 gigs corsair ram
all IDE drives are set to DMA mode
have downloaded latest plextor dvd firmware
This is a known issue with optical drives. Had it myself with my new
build. This has been discussed in this news group and many others. Use a
80 wire cable, not the 40. (I know, the 80 wire cable is for the hd's,)
Makes a difference with modern mobo's for some reason. Something to do with
the on-board hardware drivers to the optical drives. They like more
shielding the 80 wire cables give.
