Are there any things that I need to watch out for with this board when I do the upgrade? Any quirks?
Thanks

Well, to start, you could tell us what port you're connecting the
boot drive to. And perhaps, what connector the optical drive is
on, that you'll be installing from. Naturally, the simplest config
is to hook both the boot drive and the optical, to the Southbridge.
No F6 and early driver install for that.

Sorry. I boot from an IDE drive is on the primary IDE channel alone and my optical drive is on the secondary channel alone. My other drives, which are not boot drives, are attached to the IDE connector on the onboard Promise controller, one SATA is attached to the primary SATA connector and three SATA drives are attached to a Promise SATA11-150 TX4 on the PCI bus. My video card is a Radeon 9000, which reminds me that I need those drivers.
Anyway, I will not need my SATA controller drivers to boot.
What other information can I provide?
Thanks
Ken
So, then, the critical devices are on the Southbridge. Which means, in
fact, you could disconnect the other drives, until the basic OS is
installed. You can put the other disks back, after the new OS has been
rebooted at least once. (As a non-IT guy, I do that to prevent
accidents. Unless there is a good reason to leave all the disks up and
running.)
And if you like guides, there is a guide on Abxzone:

Are there any specific things about the ASUS P4PE board and the upgrade?
