I just bought a OEM Western Digital 500GB drive. The model is WD500YS.
It doesn't come with anything other than the drive. I pluged it into my
system. On boot up, the BIOS sees it. Once I log in, Windows XP also
detects it but asks for its driver. It can't found it for itself
though, not online or anywhere. Where can I get its driver?
THe motherboard is Asus P4P800 Deluxe. I don't see any SATA driver at
Asus site either.
Driver only needed for RAID operation, so is your BIOS configured correctly?
'Configure SATA as RAID' set to No?
'Onboard IDE Operate Mode' set to Enhanced Mode?
Since the ICH5R south bridge arrived long before SATA 2 drives there may
also be compatibility issues with this combination.
