Re: P5W-DH --- two RAID arrays possible (ICH7R AND EZ-Backup)

Hi,

unfortunately not. In the bios the following happens:

- IDE set to "RAID" => EZ-Backup is referred to as "RAID: external"
- IDE set to "IDE Standard" => EZ-Backup is referred to as "Disk xyz
external"

The "RAID: external" disk is not bootable

Alexander

Don't know for sure since I don't have that same setup, but could the answer
be in the boot order selection?

Dear asus motherboard experts,

the asus p5w-dh seems to me a very good motherboard, but I've run into
a big problem:

- I set up a RAID-1 on EZ-backup (success, win xp install and booting
no problem)
- I switched the IDE-settings in the bios from "IDE standard" to "RAID"
- I created a RAID-5 on the ICH7R (ok according to bios-tool)

=> BUT: Now I am unable to boot from my EZ-Backup RAID!! To do so I
have to set the IDE settings in the bios back to "IDE standard". In
this case I don't see my ICH7R raid 5 any more, just a bunch of single
disks.

Question: Is it possible to use RAID-1 on EZ-Backup and RAID-5 on the
ICH7R ??

The existence of those two controllers would be quite useless if not!

Thanks a lot for your replies, this is driving me nuts!

regards,
Alexander
