Hello. I have come to trust the opinions of this newsgroup and wish to
pose some questions that may be a little off-topic, but probably will
serve the groups knowledge interests. So I hope...
1. The Conroe, Core 2 Duo processors have a part number or naming
convention that could be interpreted almost like the PR ratings of AMD
and coupled with the fact that the E6300 can outperform high end AMD
processors (I feel conflicting opinions coming...), is there any merit
to this interpretation?
2. For the average user, would a person be as well or better served by
a Pentium D 940 or 950 operating at 3.4/3.2 GHz or a Conroe Core 2 Duo
E6300?
3. Are the new Core 2 Duo processors extremely efficient at instruction
processing, much like the methods by which the AMD parts enjoy
performance ratings that are not tied directly to the operating
frequency of the CPU itself?
Thanks for the opinions and comment, as always,

There are benchmarks on this page. If the things you do most,
are like one of the charts on this page, that will give you
a good idea what to expect.
