I have a new P5W DH Deluxe with an E6600 Core2 Duo. I am using the
Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 PRO to cool the CPU. Sometimes when I start the
computer I get a warning at or around the POST that says the CPU Fan had
an error and to press F1 to continue, which I do. This fan likes to run
at around 700+ RPM when the Q-fan is in the optimum setting. Is there a
way to control the fan speed besides choosing performance as a setting?
Can I change the warning in the BIOS to trigger lower? My CPU runs
below 30C at idle with 750RPM on the CPU fan.

Thanks,

Lou

Turn off Q-fan and allow the thermostat control of the Arctic
Cooler Freezer control the fan speed.

Is there a way to turn that off in BIOS? I found the option of switching
it to ignore on the fan speed readout. I thought Q-fan was supposed to
adjust the speed as needed. Hmmm.

Lou

Just disable Q-Fan in bios. If the Arctic Cooler fan runs too
slow, it should be possible to replace it with a unit with a
higher mininum speed, e.g., 1300 RPM. After all, it is just a
120-mm fan. Thermaltake makes one for its version of the Arctic
Cooler Freezer 7, heatsink-cum-thermal pipes assembly.

Thanks,

I disabled it but the fan then runs loud at 2k rpm after reboot. I guess
there isn't much of a thermostat since the temp is under 30c yet the fan
runs fast. I went back to using the optimal setting on Q-fan and setting
the fan speed to "ignore" for the CPU. Now it boots without the warning.
AFAIK the system will still throttle down the CPU or shutdown the PC if it
gets too hot.
