I added a second engine in my car...and yet I see no improvement in top
speed when commuting to and from the corner market. ;-)
Vista will not 'magically' cause things to run faster that already are
not taxing your current CPU. If you aren't utilizing your PC in a way
that can take advantage of dual cores (or dual processors), you would
have been better off buying a faster single core processor, more RAM,
or spiffy new 7K ~ 10K RPM SATA hard drive with 16MB buffer.
