I was running my A8N-E on 2 1/2 gig sticks while waiting for
my 2 1 gig sticks to get RMAed. I got the 2 gig back, and
decided to put all 4 sticks of memory in the system. I
ran memtest86 with no problems, but now the computer is
complaining about USB devices not responding and the
scanner no longer works :-(.

Is there some problem with > 2 gig of memory and the
onboard usb?
Or did I just manage to dislodge one of the front panel
to motherboard usb cables when putting the memory back?
Just thought I'd query for know problems before opening
up the box again...

We are a dealer and have seen that happen when Windows
Update overrides the USB controller driver.

"The problem was caused by the Windows Update installing a new driver for
"Genesys Mass Storage Device". This changed the USB contoller for the card
reader from the standard Windows "USB Mass Storage Device" to "Genesys Mass
Storage Device" and stopped the card reader from working. Trying to access
the card gave an error message of "Not accessible. Incorrect function".

The solution was (as stated in a previous reply) to use Device Manager, go
to Universal Serial Bus Controllers, select the "Genesys Mass Storage
Device", and change the driver back to the standard "USB Mass Storage Device"

In detail - double click the Genesys USB Mass Storage Device -> Driver tab ->
Update Driver -> "No, not this time" -> Install from list or specific
location (Advanced) -> Don't Search. I will choose the driver to install ->
"USB Mass Storage Device" -> Next, etc..".
