Just installed a new Asus A8N-VM CSM motherboard and it seems to work
perfectly, except for playing back video or anything in 3D.
Playing video in Windows Media Player 10 or Media Player Classic 6
results in a picture that is diagonally cut in half from the bottom
left to the top right, with the right-hand side staying black while the
left-hand side plays the video.
Also, anything requiring 3D seems to produce a jumbled mess rather than
proper models.
Interestingly, however, VLC media player play all videos
perfectly...any ideas what might be wrong - some people seem to suggest
hardware problems, but how come VLC works?
One is using overlap plane, and the other is not ?
While you could spend time testing with memtest86+ (memtest.org),
chances are the motherboard needs to have its Northbridge replaced.
