I've noticed here though, having read a little more carefully, firmware
updates are only given to those whose drives aren't detected.
Maxtor recommend that data corruption problems are solved by going and
getting the latest nForce drivers, which is contrary again to some of the
advice here an on the Asus web forums.
I've tried the latest nForce drivers and I'm sure this is when the BSODs
begin. The problem is they don't necessarily occur immediately. Perhaps it
isn't just the IDE driver but also the SM Bus driver, although Asus told me
this doesn't cause any problems.
Maybe it's even unrelated to the nForce drivers but it seems a helluva
coincidence.
