Hello,
I built in last december a computer (SLI-premium, PSU 450w from Antec,
Gigabyte 6600 GT, Raptor 36+74, Corsair 2*512, DVD-ROM from Plextor,
monitor Benq 20"). All works very fine...until two days. There was no
modification. It happens suddenly. Bios version installed at the origin :
1009.
When I want to shutdown Win XP (in fact stand-by or suspend it), the
monitor remains on (green led) with the message "no signal detected"
and after two minutes, it (the monitor) powers off itself. Before,
under XP, Start/Suspend worked fine : both computer and monitor powered
off simultaneously, but not now !
After this, I have a big problem to power on my computer (the front
button to power on my PC doesn't work). I have to unplug the ac cable,
wait 5 minutes and plug again to switch on the pc. To avoid this, I
must power off my computer with the button in front of the panel of my
Antec. I can't stand-by XP.
Have you any idea why the monitor suddenly doesn't power off
simultaneously with the PC ?
Thanks
Francois (France)
If you go to "Device Manager", and examine the "Computer" entry,
does it show "Standard PC" or does it say "ACPI ..." ? It almost
sounds like the wrong HAL (hardware abstraction layer) is being
used. I think with "Standard PC", you have to use the power
switch to turn it off.
