Hi again,
Ok, i've tried cleaning every bit of the connectors and such. No luck,
though - the static persist. I've tried 3 sets of headphones and 2 sets
of speakers. They all do the same thing. I have nothing else connected
to the card. It's all a little weird. :)
I dug out an old soundcard and installed it, and that works just fine.
Though not as good as the onboard, it will have to do until i buy a new
card.
Alas... thanks for trying, though. :)

Oh, something i did not notice before. There is an audible popping /
clicking noise from the left headphone / speaker (the one with the
problem) when i shut down and when i boot up. Three in total when
restarting... one on shut down, one when booting, one when loading
windows.
Are aliens trying to communicate with me?
Computer audio is always AC coupled. If you look at an AC 97
chip on a motherboard, or at the sound chip on a sound card,
there are a ton of caps used on there.
If the DC potential on one side of the cap is suddenly shifted,
this passes a "pop" through the capacitor. To stop it, a clever
sound driver should "ramp" the voltage on the audio chip pin,
slowly to its normal quiescent level. This assumes, that the audio
device on the other side of the capacitor, has not applied its
own DC bias to its end of the cap. The problem can be solved, but
it requires both hardware and software to be doing the right
things.
