L2 cache Bg Scrub 40NS
data cache BG scrub 40Ns
2 compare with

Someone suggested it is my power supply that causes the RAM error: I have
an ATX 450 PS that only has 4 pin plug and 20pin I was told I should have
4pin plug and 24 pin plug atx2 PS. Can you confirm that? I really need to
narrow down the trouble
There is no reason to suspect the connection via 20 pin connector.
While you might not have enough amps on your power supply, we cannot
tell by just knowing it is 450W. The amps are printed on the label
on the side of the supply. And to attempt to compute the power
consumption, a full hardware inventory is needed. If this was a
minimal system (no high end video card), you should be passing
with flying colors.
Return the motherboard to defaults, don't bother with scrubbing
or the enabling of ECC. Run memtest86+ first, and see if it
can see data errors. Examine the memory timings being used
by the system, using a utility like CPUZ (cpuid.com) or the
like. Make sure that the RAM has enough voltage (JEDEC says
2.6V for DDR400, and a setting of 2.6V or 2.7V should be fine.)
If the RAM is advertised as 3-3-3-8, check that those settings
are being used, when you examine the info in CPUZ. The memory
timings allowed, change with clock rate, so if the RAM is
3-3-3-8 at DDR400, the timings can be a little bit tighter at
DDR333.
In terms of RAM speeds, with two sticks, you should be able to
run at DDR400, with a command rate of 1T (if you are lucky) and
2T (if you are not lucky). Dropping down to DDR333 1T or DDR400
2T might be needed for four sticks.
By adjusting the memory timings, memory clock rate, and/or
command rate (1T/2T), you may be able to make your memory
error free.
Also, you might try running with just one stick or two sticks,
and work your way up to four sticks, if that is what you are
using. You say you have 2GB of memory, and that might be
4x512MB or 2x1GB, so I don't know which you are using.
The 4x512MB configuration is more stressful.
