My system has developed an odd audio problem since I changed my power
supply (previous one burnt out). I'm using the on-board AC97sound .
Whenever I start to play any game, after about 5 minutes the audio
quality slowly deteriorates to a crackling / hissing sound before
finally cutting out altogether. Up to the point of deterioration it
sounds fine. After the audio cuts out the game crashes and the realtek
audio dialogue box pops up out of nowhere, it informs me that there are
now no physical connections from the on-board sound to my 5.1 speaker
set-up.
I have re-installed the Realtek audio drivers and have even tried
nvidia sound drivers, no difference.
When I reboot everything is back to normal with the connections being
detected again. The problem only occurs during game play. I'm really
confused, is it a software or hardware issue? any ideas would be
appreciated.
System:
A8N-SLI delux
Athlon 64 4000
1G corsair RAM
2 x nVidia 6800 Ultra
Maxtor 80G drive
ANTEC 550W PSU (replaced Thermaltake 600W)
hi
may be a overheating issue...
