The SATA controller on the ASUS A8V motherboard does NOT

Hi,
I am looking for just this information. My motherboard is AV8 Deluxe (939
socket for amd64). There are two sata controllers: Via and Promise, the
latter being for raid.
Seagate Barracuda ST3160812AS 160Gb is not detected in the regular Sata
slot. I think it is SATAII disk so how could I disable the sata II mode?
There are no obvios jumpers on the disk. I can see four pins next to the
sata cable (right side). Is it it?
