Sorry for top-posting in my last post. I tried the PS/2 and it still
doesn't work. Here's my hardware list:
Asus K8N motherboard (754)
AMD Sempron 64 2800+ running in the upper 20's to low 30's celcius
$40 Zalman heatsink/fan for the Sempron. (Has a fan speed controller)
It
still connects to the CPU fan plugin on the motherboard.
512MB Kingston PC-3000 DDR RAM
256MB Samsung PC-2700 DDR RAM
NVIDIA GeForce FX5600 AGP 8x
Creative Audigy soundcard instead of the onboard sound (there were not
any
jumpers or settings I would have to disable by chance, were there? I
know
there was on my A7V333, but the soundcard seems to be working as I'm
getting
sound.) It's in the third PCI slot.
Western Digital 120GB 7200RPM 8MB cache hard drive (IDE) It's using the
CS
jumper and is connected properly
Lite On 16x DVD drive (master)
Memorex (Lite On) 52x32x52 (slave)
3 case fans
400-watt power supply
Keep in mind that before I got the new motherboard, all the parts were
the
same except for the motherboard and the processor. I previously had the
A7V333 and the Athlon XP 2400+. Also absent from the computer is the
10/100
network card because the new motherboard has one onboard.
When my computer goes to standby, everything virtually shuts off in my
computer, but the case fans continue to spin slowly (almost pointless
they
spin so slow) for about 30-60 seconds before stopping.
Always check the download page, when you get a new motherboard.
I checked the BIOS section for K8N, and it says:

1004 2004/12/21 update
Description

That means a BIOS later than 1004 may solve your problem.

standby. Does it have something to do with my soundcard by chance? When
I hit the power button when the computer is in standby, I do hear a slight
pop noise from my speakers, (hooked up via the Audigy) but that's it. It
still won't come out of standby.
Sure, the fans keep running, but at least it comes out of standby then.
(Besides, my A7V333 always had the fans continue to run anyway.) I'll
continue messing with it, but if I can't get it to work, I'll just run it in
S1 only.
