a8n-sli deluxe "Boot Disk Error, Please Insert System Disk and press enter"

All,

I have just started getting the above error when I boot up, windows xp
sp2 is installed and was working fine then it crashed in a game and I
had to restart then this message has been coming up ever since.

The weird thing is though, I can get it to boot normally if I press F8
(boot device select) when its booting and select the hard drive i want
to boot off (i have 2 HDs)...In the bios the boot configuration is set
to boot to "Hard Disk" first, it doesnt give the option of specifically
saying which HD, and I tried putting the first 2 boot devices as "Hard
Disk" just in case.

My system is:
AMD 3800+
Nvidia 7800GT
1gb kingston hyperx ddr400
1 160gb maxtor diamond 10
1 80gb maxtor

any ideas are welcome! thanks
