Ok, I talked to the dude, and he talked to the tech supp folks inhe
california...THEY can dial in and view the cameras from there....when

have to go and check out his home machine (far away too...lol) forsome

I guess the software is supposed to take control of the modem and wait
dialin connections? so thats why the port already open error? hmmm...Iit!)

3Com/USR external serial modems are some of the best available today
short of the super expensive units made for high speed phone lines - T1,
T3 etc..
I have a friend in the security/fire alarm industry. They use these all
of the time. I use 3Com/USR 56k ISA and PCI non-winmodems on all of my
systems except an old NT4 box which uses a 56k external modem. I have an
old 14k modem that I have hooked up just for Faxes.
I've run into problems on occasions using an internal modem when I try
to send a Fax to someone using their PC for faxes. I either have to use
a fax machine or an external modem.
BTW, my friend's company still uses 33.6k modems at some of their
clients but they may not be fast enough for video???
A suggestion. Find a couple of old external modems an hook one up to
each PC to see if you can make a connection. You should be able to get
some old 14k external modems for free or next to nothing. If they work,
you can go from there.
