I recently rebuilt a system using the above motherboard. I have just 3
older usb devices attached to it. A webcam, a pencam and a backup power
supply. The board has 4 usb with another two connected to a separate
wired
connector in a slot.

I seem to be having a problem with one older webcam that keeps on getting
lost or else the driver gets corrupted. I'll often reboot and see in
device
manager that it has a yellow exclamation saying it can't start. Either
that
or the video from the cam is scrambled when I try to use it. Usually
removing the device and reinstalling it fixes it but only until the
machine
is shut down again. Plugging it in to other open usb slots makes no
difference.

Question is has anyone run in to anything like this before and is there
some
sort of usb driver or fix I should install for this Nforce 2 chipset? I'm
currently using the latest nforce 2 drivers from Nvidia's website rather
than those that came with the board from Asus. Both seem to have the
same
problem.

Having inserted many, many, USB devices into my A7N8X deluxe's,
I suspect the problem lies with your webcam rather than the mobo/drivers.
Can you try that webcam on a friend's PC etc?

Actually, the cam was working perfectly fine on my own machine before I
rebuilt it using the Asus board. It was on a Shuttle AK32e. The reason I
swapped that out for the Asus was the Asus allowed me to use a faster cpu.

I guess it's possible something went wrong with the cam but it still works
fine when I reove the device then refresh and WindowsXP reinstalls the
driver. It's only when shutting down and restarting that the problem comes
back. It's as if the usb isn't detecting it properly or something is
corrupting the cam's driver.
