Thanks. I tried it but it says it's based on the CPUID engine in the
"About" information. It ID's it as whatever I have it set to in the
motherboard bios. If I lower the FSB to 100 it ID's as an 1800+. Sisoft
Sandra does the same thing.
Like I said, I didnt think any of the XP class of cpu's ran at 100 but I
could be wrong. I thought that was only the older Athlons and Durons
that
used 100.
Use CPUID from the AMD website:
http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/utilities/amdcpuid.exe
I tried that too with the same result. They must all return the same info.
If I set the FSB at 133 it says it's a proper XP 2400+. If I set it to 100
it says it's an AMD XP 1800+ :)
There is a table of processors here:
http://web.archive.org/web/20041024052945/http://www.qdi.nl/support/CPUQDISocketA.htm
I copied the table out, and added the multiplier of a few of the
processors here:
http://groups.google.ca/group/alt.comp.periphs.mainboard.asus/msg/373addb10b12b54f?dmode=source
Perhaps with the family name, CPU ID, and the multiplier, you can
work out what you have. There are some processors which cannot be
distinguished without reading the label on the processor, like
a Barton 2500+ and a Barton 3200+, so for some processors in the
table, you have to look at the label.
133x15=2000MHz ==> "2400+"
100x15=1500MHz, but the BIOS forgets that the clock is 100MHz, when
it claims the processor is a 1800+. I think it is
a 2400+, and the test at 133 is the valid one.
Just a guess,
Paul
