If your PSU, is that close to the limit, then you should get a bigger
unit. 8 USB ports, is just 4A current in total.

Yes, I was not sure if the 'extra strain' ("She can't take the strain,
Captain!") comment was tongue-in-cheek or not...I think it would be
difficult to blow a power supply with USB devices....
But then again you also risk a conflict with the second PCI USB card
and that would never be a problem with the powered hub.
