Hi,
I'm having a similar problem as Peacock. I have the cable from the
front panel of the case (coolermaster centurion 5) connected to the
fp_audio plug on the motherboard (a8n-sli). I don't get any sound with
it set up like this - from the speakers plugged into the green output
on the back of the mobo, or from the headphone plug on the front of the
case. I am using the realtek drivers that shipped with the motherboard.
Shouldn't the speakers still work with this plug in place? Like
peacock's case, mine has a cable with a 9 pin plug marked ac97, one
marked hd audio, and a series of loose 1-pin connectors. These are all
on the end of the same cable. I'm going to try removing this ac97 plug
and re-installing the jumpers tonight, but I would still ike to be able
to use the front panel jacks. Is this possible?

Installation manual. Page four, near the bottom, shows FP_AUDIO.
http://www.coolermaster.com/installation_manual/C5_manual_1-1EN.pdf
Remove all wires from the 2x5 FP_AUDIO header on the motherboard.
Remove the two jumper plugs from the 2x5 FP_AUDIO header.
Grab the wire bundle with L_OUT, L_RET, R_OUT, R_RET, GND, and
connect them up. That should at least get the headphone jack working.
MIC2 AGND <---> GND
MICPWR +5VA
R_OUT <---> Line out_R BLINE_OUT_R <---> R_RET
NC
L_OUT <---> Line out_L BLINE_OUT_L <---> L_RET
The Coolermaster cable assembly does not support muting when
the headphones are plugged in. Both the headphones and the
green audio connector on the back of the computer will work
simultaneously, when the above wires are connected.
Now, why am I not showing the microphone wires at this time ?
I want you to get the headphones working first. The thing is,
the Centurion has two GROUND wires for audio, and the FP_AUDIO
header only has one AGND pin. I am hoping that connecting
the GROUND from the three wire microphone wire bundle is
not necessary, but if it is, you'll have to find a GND
pin on some other header, to connect the microphone ground.
Doing so will likely not give the best microphone
performance (possible background noise).
According to what I see in the installation manual, the other
two 2x5 cables are for USB and Firewire. Since I see no
documentation for an "AC97" device as such, I cannot help you
with any cables not shown in the installation manual. And that
is why I am using the info in the install guide, to suggest
using the loose wires shown above.

It would help if I actually plugged the AC97 plug into the motherboard
and not the HD Audio plug. It's working now. I noticed how there is no
muting on the green output when the headphones are plugged in. I guess
I can just shut off the speakers when using the headphones. Thanks for
your help!
Kevin
