I have run the regkey that Asus had at their site, but it doesn't
seem to work. Bios is newest, and set to 4x

Anyone having a solution for me ?"

"Question

When I use nVidia video card on CUV4X series motherboards and
set to AGP 4X enable in BIOS, the system shows the video card
is running at AGP 2X. Why?

Answer

This is because that nVidia V5.x or later driver will auto
detect the VIA 694X chipset and enable the VGA card to run at
2X mode to avoid some system instability issue while running
3D games or software. You can set Nvidia AGP card at 4X mode
under Win9X/ME/2000/NT4 for VIA 694X chipset by using the
register patch, which can be downloaded from:

ftp://ftp.viaarena.com/drivers/others/viaagp4xon.zip "

I see a copy here:

http://www.sunsite.org.uk/sites/ftp.guru3d.com/download/guru3d.com/via/viaagp4xon.reg

The contents of that register patch are:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\System]
"EnableVia4X"=dword:00000001

There is no guarantee that the drivers will pay any attention
to that register key, but it is the only solution I see
mentioned for the problem. Since your card is an ATI card,
why would it pay attention to an NVIDIA register key ?

Now, your card is an older one, and the chipset on the card
is not even designed by ATI. The chipset is by IBM, and who
knows where the drivers came from. Cooking up a registry
key that the drivers will respect, will be a real challenge.

Perhaps you could contact ATI tech support, and see if they
are familiar with the problem.

Or go here, and type "firegl4" in the Advanced Search box:
