Hi Everyone.
Just built a new Pc with ASUS P5RD1-V Motherboard 3.4 Ghz Intel Pentium, 1Gb
DDR.
Well Machine worked Fine until i decided to install Sound Blaster Live from
my older machine and GeForce6600 PCI Express Card that i just bought.
First i spent about 2 hours getting the video card to work. The computer
would not boot at all, when you turn it on, the video card would not even
send a signal to monitor. Eventually i got it going.
In Bios i have disabled Realtech sound on south bridge then disabled
parralel and serial ports along with lan. I booted in to windows, removed
all onboard ati and realtech drivers, and installed nvidia and sound blaster
drivers. When rebooted i had the same issue with the screen going blank. But
then i have discovered that if you wait a minute or more the computer would
boot but keeps on poping up the message OVERCLOCKING FAILED press F1 to
adjust settings. When i go in to bios i would not change anything but just
save the settings and exit. The computer would boot in to windows.
>From this point i started getting new issues. On a first couple of boots i
had windows locked up while loading. So i assumed it was a sound card since
the hangs happened just when volume control popped up. Then i discovered
that it was not the issue. Then i got the machine booting allright intially
and then booting in to windows normally. But AS SOON AS I START PLAYING A
VIDEOCLIP OR START A GAME, my pc would lock up again. I turn the power off
and sometimes it boots normally in to windows and sometimes it would hang at
intial boot with blank screen and get to the overcloacking message.
To tell u the truth this is the third day i am at trying to get this thing
to work. Already played with IRQ settings in bios by reserving all the IRQ
ports, tried disbaling everything that is on board of the motherboard.
Disabled south bridge, disabled on board ATI card but still same problem.
I do not really care about the initial boot issue but the fact that i can
not play my games and watch video is really getting to me. Everytime i start
a movie or play a game it takes from 1 to 10 minutes when computer get's
locked (picture and sound).
If anyone has any ideas what could be causing it please help.
ISSUE: COMPUTER LOCKS AFTER STARTING A VIDEO CLIP OR A GAME. SCREEN FREESES,
SOUND FREESES, COMPUTER DOES NOT RESPOND TO ANY COMMANDS BUT THE POWER
BUTTON. IT TAKES ABOUT 1-10 MINUTES TO LOCK AFTER THE GAME OR CLIP IS
STARTED. WHEN I TURN COMPUTER OFF AFTER THE LOCK I NEED TO WAIT ABOUT A
MINUTE, OTHERWISE THE IT WON'T BOOT AT ALL.(ONLY AFTER IT WAS LOCKED IF
RESTARTED NORMALLY IT WOULD BOOT ALLRIGHT). WHEN NEEDED TIME IS WAITED FOR,
THE COMPUTER BOOTS BUT SHOWS THE MESSAGE "OVERCLOACKING FAILED PLEASE PRESS
F1 TO ADJUST THE SYSTEM" USUALLY I DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING BUT JUST SAVE
SETTINGS AND EXIT. THEN THE OC WOULD BOOT IN TO WINDOWS BUT WILL LOCK AGAIN
AT STARTUP OR WHEN VIDEO OR GAMES ARE PLAYED.
What i have done so far:
Assuming it was a videocard conflict or drivers issue - removed and
reinstalled N-VIDIA drivers several time disabled on board ATI Radeon
card-did not help
Assuming it was audio card conflict or drivers issue - removed and
reinstalled Sound Blaster Live drivers several time, disabled Realtech on
board audio in BIOS, disabled parralell, serial, game ports in BIOS,
Reserved IRQ ranges for pci slots and tried with released settings - did not
help.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
..
