Tony,
Do you have enough cooling for your system? Air/Water, case fans, etc...
By the way, I am able to use BIOS 0422 now.
I slightly changed my configuration... This is what I have now:
P5WD2 Premium (BIOS 0422)
Intel Pentium 4 3.8Ghz CPU
1GB Corsair TWIN2X1024A-6400 (DDR2-800Mhz)
ATI All-in-Wonder X600 Pro (PCI Express-16)
Maxtor 200GB S-ATA drive (Model 6L200M0) on Intel ICH7 SATA1 connector
Maxtor 200GB S-ATA drive (Model 6L200S0) on Intel ICH7 SATA2 connector
WDC 120GB IDE/ATA drive (Model WD1200JB) on BLUE Intel ICH7 Primary IDE
Plextor PX-716SA DVD-RW drive on Intel SI3132 SATA connector
IDE Configuration -> "Configure SATA As" set to "RAID" in BIOS.
I have a RAID0 set now, with both Maxtor drives. It seems to run fine.
The problem that I have seems to be with the Plextor drive. A Plextor
technician said they do not support these SATA controllers.
My Plextor drive works, but occasionally it will not read the media in the
drive at times.
This occurs with it plugged into the ICH7R SATA controller, or the SI 3132
SATA controller. I am thinking I might RMA the Plextor PX-716SA back to
Newegg in exchange for the Plextor PX-716A (standard ATAPI/IDE drive)
I have not tried switching the SATA cable yet. The cable that comes with
the Plextor is much longer than the SATA cables that come with the
motherboard. I will switch it to that and see what happens.
Does anyone else have the Plextor PX-716SA and the P5WD2 Premium?? If so,
does the Plextor drive work flawlessly??
