I built this, my first home-build in June 2008.
MB ABIT|IP35 Pro XE P35 R
Cpu CPU INTEL|C2D E8400 3G 775 45N R
First memory MEM 2Gx2|CORS TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF R
I was amazed when the thing came up first time I turned it on. BUT...
ever after I have had some god-awful glitches. It will run memory
tests and Prime95 forever, no sweat. But after some boots a few nasty
things can happen: worst is Microsoft Intellimouse 'jumps' when moved.
One CPU is running at 20% with nothing else happening when this
occurs.(as noted in CoreTemp app) Must reboot. Next worse is that
PhotoShop5 will not open. Must reboot.
I kept increasing mem voltage with the first memory, but no help.
Recently I replaced memory, on a guess, with GI Skil MEM 2Gx2|GSK
F2-8500CL5D-4GBPK R. For a few days I thought it was better but the
old shit came back to haunt me.
Stats:
PCIE Clock 100
External Clock 340MHz
Voltages:
VCore 1.225
MCH 1.25
CPU VTT 1.10
ICH 1.05
CPU GTLREF 1&3 67%
DDR2 2.0
ICHIO 1.5
DDR2 REF 0%
CPU GTLREF 0&2 67%
(These voltages read off online abit uGuru)
Anybody have any idea if playing with some voltages might help? Or
anything else?
Have you tried changing settings in the bios to 'optomized defaults'?
I might also be tempted to do a clean install of the OS with the thought
that the original RAM was faulty and has corrupted system files.
When you built did you use a new PS?
