Even when using ASIO drivers?
I don't know of any decent ASIO drivers for the Realtek HD audio chip.
There is a free wrapper called ASIO4All but it sucks in the sound quality
quality department, especially when using heavily CPU intensive synths.
This is not a problem if you are just
listening to a CD but is an impossible issue if you using the soundI'm using my PC as a DAW but I'm not experiencing that long of delays

using a MIDI KB.
I suppose you have adjusted the buffering parameters to suit your DAW
application, but I would be surprised if you have tolerable latency *and*
sound quality. I get annoyed even with 50ms of latency, so I use an
external Firewire sound module (Edirol FA-66). It has direct monitoring
(zero latency).
