That doesn't blow my mind at all. GPUs are more powerful than CPUs
thanks to their RISC like design.
Isn't there a Folding@Home version that uses the GPU?
Although I think nVidia is better - always has issues with ATI
drivers as far back as 2001.
I used to feel that way as well. But for my latest build, I found the
bang/buck issue was lopsided ENOUGH in the favor of ATI, that I had to
give them another chance. No regrets.
I think the most interesting aspect of future tech., knowing that the
days of the CPU are numbered is...
What is going to happen to Intel?
Yeah, Intel has some experience making GPUs, but in general...their
performance has always been sub-par.
A future where fast GPUs rule and CPUs are obsolete is going to be a
very bleak future for Intel unless they get their ass in gear and start
putting out some SERIOUS dedicated video cards to compete with ATI and
nvidia soon.
Or, Intel could buy nvidia. Unless Intel buys nvidia or starts
competing (seriously) in the high-end GPU market with video cards of
Intel design, I think Intel is doomed. -Dave
