Longer short answer: Less companies make DDR memory now
that DDR2 and DDR3 are being used in new computers. So the
DDR prices will be higher, since there is less of them to go around.
DDR2 prices seems to be on the rise lately. I paid $50 for a pair of
these two months ago, and now they're $80 (G.SKILL 8500 2 x 2 GB):

I actually bought two pair, and I'm glad I did. At the same time, 2 x 1 GB
DDR2 could be had for as little as $22 shipped. Now the price is $34.
Anyone noticed what DDR3 prices are doing?
