I can't seem to find a newsgroup that covers HP printers, so has
anyone out there got a 2605 Colour Laserjet? Mine is three years old
and therefore not in warranty, but is used sparingly, so the three HP
colour cartridges are showing over 60% toner left. However, the red
one has been getting fainter over the past few months and now won't
work. I've tried the cleaning, taking out and shaking routines, but
it won't clear and HP diagnostics only cover the case where the
cartridge must be empty not to print. These things are pretty
expensive and I'm pissed off at having to replace one that's more than
half full. Has anyone got any hints and tips?
If you've only been using it lightly, chances are the ink nozzlea are
blocked and it needs the heads removing and cleaning properly. Ink is
water based so when it dries out, it leaves a powder behind which
knackers stuff up.
Also, ink cartridges have a use by date as well - they don't last
indefinitely.
