It says that it's the Release Candidate. Don't know about the OEM bit, but if it's like the (free) download, it's good to March 1, 2010. (It'll run, but shut down every 2 hours, until June 1, 2010.) Maybe it's worth $9.99 to someone who can't (or won't) download an ISO that's larger than 2 GB and burn it to a DVD. (Shipping is free.)

I admit that the "specifications" written for it appear to be for the original beta, but I hope that Newegg is providing the actual RC.

Looks to me like a pretty dubious offering, but I doubt that it's "fishy". Newegg is a US company, and I can't believe they'd hope to get away with something that Microsoft would not permit.

To anyone considering it, though: don't you know someone who can make you a copy? If you want to be really scrupulous, you can get a key for the RC from Microsoft without doing the actual download. (I wouldn't bother, though. There are supposedly only 10 different keys altogether. Use your chum's key with a clear conscience, or search for the list of the RC keys on the Web.) A blank DVD disk costs less than $1 at the moment. With a 16X drive, it takes a few minutes to burn.

The RC is supposed to be available for download until August 15, but keys will be available after that.

The downloadable keys are only for the Ultimate version, though. If you become enamored of the Ultimate-only features (like bitlocker), prepare to pay the Ultimate price.

That is the Beta version and is only good until August 8. Thats why it's so cheap. You get to be a beta tester for 30 days. MS gift to you. OEM version to boot.
