I'm looking for something to allow me to use 2 (or even 4)
Flash SSDs in a single 3.5 inch bay and makes the array
look like a single device to the (motherboard) SATA controller.
Does anyone know of such a device? Putting in 4 drives seems
like it would be difficult, it seems like 2 drive plus the
RAID stuff should fit.

OK, I can't help you. But I can't help but ask...

While I understand the concept of what you are trying to do, I can't for the
life of me imagine WHY you would want to? Vista allows you to use these
devices as virtual memory, but even the ones optimized for such use are
going to be (at best) performing on par with any decent hard drive. If you
want the storage to be external to the case, there is esata.

I suppose you could (in theory) increase the performance by creating a
virtual RAID array. But then, wouldn't it be a lot simpler to create an
ACTUAL RAID array? You wouldn't need anything extra to do that, other than
multiple hard drives. All (OK, I haven't checked all, I'm making an
assumption here) current motherboards have RAID capability built in.

If you aren't gaining speed, and you aren't gaining portability, and it's
going to cost more than a normal RAID array, why are you wanting to do it?

Note I'm not questioning your judgement here, I'm just trying to determine
what "angle" you see that I haven't considered. :) -Dave
