I bought this Turtle Beach external USB NTSC capture device (for
capturing VCR tapes to AVI format on PC) only about 1 yr ago. Used it
initally for a few days, and worked OK. Then after a few months the
hard drive crashed, and I had to reinstall Windows XP Pro SP2. Tried
recently to get the capture device working again. Have lost the CD
installer sleeve which must have had the ser. no. on it, as it is not
on the disk anywhere. Well, I got the driver installed so that the
device is recognized, but when I try to start the "Adfullcap" capture
utility, it will not start without the ser. no. According to their
site, support for this device in no more. I have so far emailed
Turtle Beach support THREE TIMES to request a ser. no. It is hardly
fair that I have an obsolete, unuseable product which was only
purchased abut a year ago! So far, they have not even ackowleged
recipt of my email request. I will NEVER buy another Turtle Beach (I
think this is Voyetra) product again. Any ideas about how I can get
Adfullcap to run?
No but at least you've learned your lesson about Turtle Beach.
I was burned twice by them: a $500 audio card bought in 1999 (they
dropped support for it as soon as Win2K was released that same year,
even though their tech support insisted they were developing Win2K
drivers for it), and an $80 Santa Cruz audio card that they dropped
support for when WinXP was released. They do have an XP driver
but it's very old and horribly buggy.
The company won't be seeing another dime of my money.
