I know all about KVM switches but I was wondering if this isI am doing it now..............
possible and would
it do any damage -
LCD monitor with both DVI and VGA inputs. The source can be
selected from the
monitors menu. Is it possible to plug in a DVI input from one pc
and a VGA input
from another pc and use the monitors menu to switch between the
two?
Oh so you're using the monitor to switch between DVI and VGA? Not a
KVM switch? Never occurred to me.
The old PC is not on a great deal but it is easy to switch when they
are both on
DJT
After a few days of fiddling with the resolution I have the right
resolution using the KVM vga ports. Other than easier resolution setup,
I haven't noticed a visual difference between the vga output and DVI
output on my LCD.
I want to switch operating from one computer to another. So I need full
control. Used to do that monitor switch on an old nec, with two
keyboards, before mouse.
Big desks?
There's a KVM for you if you're willing to pay the price, ie, DVI KVMs,
USB KVMs, VGA +audio KVMs, etc. I use an AirLink VGA/PS2/Audio KVM
though I still use 2 USB mice, 1 monitor, 1 keyboard. I use the KVM
shortcut keys to switch between PCs and can leave audio on one PC while
working on the other.
IIRC, AirLink and IOGear are making DVI and USB KVMs but I'm waiting on a
DVI/USB/Audio KVM for under $40.
