Hello, I am trying to solve a hdd problem. The drive in question is a
Western Digital Caviar SE, serial ATA. Model # wd2000js-22mhbo.
Everything was ok up to about a week ago, now the drive seems to just
trip over and over, like a slow repeated stumble. I cant start up in
safe mode to check for a virus , as the pc will attempt to start in
safe mode, it reboots and start the process again. The c: drive is not
recognized in My computer, so I am unable to run a check disk. Could
the drive be damaged due to a virus or is it just at the end of its
service? I dont know and I could use some help from someone with more
insight on these matters. Please and thanks for your time and
patience.

-----------
Unplug the power cable from the rear of the computer case.
Remove the case cover. Unplug and replug securely all of the
cables/connectors that you can reach. Replace the case cover. Plug in the
power cord. Restart the computer.
There is a 50/50 chance that you have solved the problem. That's the best
that I can offer. It has worked for me numerous times over the years. Good
luck.
