With an emphasis on carefully, maybe using a flashlight.
Accidentally sticking a finger into the wrong side of a working
fan can be very unpleasant.
Typical fans in computer cases won't hurt you.

Yup. Some of my case fan blades are sharp as a knife. I've had them
split a fingernail. Avoid it if you use your hands/fingers a lot.
