I just bought a new mobo, MSI K9A2 CF-F (MS-7388), an AMD Phenom 8650, and 4GiB memory.
I reused HDs, DVD- and CD-recorders, FDD and case ( WT-KM96 http://www.wtcase.com/products.php?sfid=1&scid=8&siid=4#I4) from my old build.
Now I wonder hot to get audio/mic from the front panel??
The cables from FP are:
MIC IN
MIC BIAS
SPK L (2 connectors in Y, ie. slaved)
SPK R (2 connectors in Y, ie. slaved)
GND
There's two possibilities in the manual Azalia or AC97
I suppose the AC97 should be the easier one:
AUD_MIC * * AUD_GND
AUD_MIC_bias * * AUD_VCC
AUD_FPout_R * * AUD_RET_R
HP_ON * * key
AUD_FPout_L * *AUD_RET_L
So, how do I connect?

MIC IN ------- AUD_MIC * * AUD_GND ------ GND
MIC BIAS -- AUD_MIC_bias * * AUD_VCC
SPK R ----- AUD_FPout_R * * AUD_RET_R
HP_ON *
SPK L ------ AUD_FPout_L * * AUD_RET_L
You'll be connecting a total of five connectors.
The rest of the pins and connectors remain unconnected.
Also, once the Realtek audio driver is installed and the
computer rebooted, check the manual for
"Disable front panel jack detection"
You want to click that tick box in the interface, so that
the software knows the above AC'97 wiring is being used.
You want front panel jack detection disabled, as then
impedance sensing should be used instead (the alternative
detection method).
In terms of reading the manual, the easiest way is to
download the PDF version of the manual, and
then search for the above text string.
