In the Control Panel under Device Manager I see the section Sound,
video and game controllers. In there are:
-Audio Codecs
-Legacy Audio Drivers
-Legacy Video Capture Devices
-Media Control Devices
-Realtek High Definition Audio
-Video Codecs
I am thinking that I will need to uninstall or remove each of
those sections,
I would just turn off the onboard video in the BIOS, turn off the
computer, and install the new sound card. I wouldn't try to
uninstall anything first. The version of Windows makes a lot of
difference. I'm using Windows XP. But I would also probably make a
backup copy of the operating system partition first. Installing
stuff is one of the best uses for a backup copy of the operating
system partition. Oh what a relief it is.
Good luck.
Any thoughts on this.
