I just bought a new DP35DP board. The board starts, I can

manage to enter the Intel Matrix RAID setup by pressing [Crtl][I],

Josh, this method has never failed me (yet?). Shut comp down.
Press ON
button. As soon as you see the 1st thing on the screen, start
"raking"
the
4 keys (F1, F2, F3, & F4) using the nail of your fore-finger.
Continue
doing so as your comp. continues thru its boot process until you see
your
CMOS screen. Hope this helps, sam

I'll give that a try next. At the moment, it was suggested by another
person to try clearing the CMOS. This person said to wait at least 30
minutes, but Intel's website recommends 1 hour. {Sigh...} Got about
10-15 minutes to go before I can try again.

As for when I see things on the screen, I don't know if using a CRT is
causing this, but when I hit the power button, the monitor is still
blinking green for a good 2-3 seconds before it goes solid green. The
keyboard and case fans appear to startup at this time too (the fans
become louder for a moment.) Just throwing that out there, in case
this indicates some other issue :( I've never had so much trouble
with an Intel board...

Ok. I let the CMOS reset (left battery out for little over an hour),
no change. Tried raking over the F1, F2, F3, and F4 keys, but it
still ignored it and continued until getting the "AHCI BIOS not
installed" error message.

What happens when you try booting off the System Disc/CD? sam

It ignores the bootable disc. I've tried giving it a BIOS upgrade ISO
CD, and the Windows XP CD. It just ignores them and stays at the
"AHCI BIOS not installed" screen.

Have u tried shutting off and booting from "OFF" with the XP CD already
in the cd drive? That should cause it to try & boot from the cd.

Yes, I have tried starting the computer with the WinXP CD already in
the drive. The drive lights up, but it still results in the same
"AHCI BIOS not installed".

That was my first action, but none of the ideas suggested have had any
effect.

At this point, I'm really thinking I got a bad board. Just can't
believe I'd get a bad Intel board after having so much success with
them in the past.

There are two DVI ports, and I am using the DVI -> VGA adapter that
came with the video card. I don't own an LCD. I did try switching
which port I plugged the monitor in to, no effect.

Is the memtest or anything in the bios hardware screen showing ?
or does it seem to go from startup to windows loading screen?
If you don't see any bios hardware configuration screen, then I suspect that there is no
video output until XP loads the video driver.
I have seen that kind of behavior when using those dvi 2 VGA adapters.
When you tap the DEL key (or whatever launches setup) does the system seem to lock up with
no video?
Do you see the text "Hit (?) to enter setup" during the startup?
When you cleared the MOS did you see a "checksum error" hit (?) to continue?
If your (not) seeing any of this and the screen is blank, I suspect your getting no video


It's a brand new computer with brand new harddrives, I haven't been
able to install XP because it won't read the bootable XP install CD.
I did try tapping DEL and F2, and several other keys, but it just
continues to the AHCI BIOS not installed screen and hangs. When it
starts, I do see for a brief moment, an initial screen saying to hit
Ctrl+I to configure RAID (and I was able to enter that setup menu).
Changing the settings in there had no effect on getting BIOS setup to
work though...



Also... shouldn't setting the BIOS Configuration jumper to
"Configuration" FORCE the BIOS menu to load?? It's not on mine. It's
like BIOS doesn't exist...

Usually after clearing the MOS you should see a
'hold" at boot telling that the CMOS time and settings need to be checked.
At that time you should have a text line asking you to 'continue' or hit(?) to enter
setup.

Ya... it should right ^^; I left the battery out for over an hour,
but after replacing it, it just did the same thing, hanging at the
AHCI BIOS not installed screen. No message about CMOS time and
settings (which I was surprised not to see).
