In my labs, I'm getting this error on different computersYou are usually better at these things than I am johns, but just out of the
several times a week. On boot, the error is something
like
"C:\Windows\System32\System is corrupt or missing"
I'm getting this on new boxes, so it doesn't sound like
a hardware problem ... or a hack. I can do a repair by
copying C:\Windows\Repair\System.exe to the other
folder, but I still get the same error. I'm getting suspicious
of Microsoft XP updates and patches, but I wonder if
the problem is corrupt file transfers, or is it just an
incompatible update ?? Or none of the above ??

blue I would look towards maleware or some other infection. Do you have a
firewall at your lab that might be open? The fact that it is not just one
system makes that jump out at me right away. I have done all XP updates on
my systems and have not had any problems. I did have a problem on a couple
of systems with a Vista update that screwed up the dual boot configurations,
but not with any XP only systems. That is a tough one. If you find the
solution, give me a heads up on it.
