STABLE mobo?

Ok, I've spent 2 weeks trying to load XP on my K7N2 Delta
Platinum...............trying with sata (tried everything) and now with a
IDE HD. Dang mobo is flaky! Won't auto detect and I think ver 1.0 is crap.
It's also 2 years old or more.
OK, I'll scrap out the parts, AMD 3000, and Crucial 184 pin mem, but would
like to use the Sata drive. It's a maxtor 80 gig, first gen.
IS there a stable mobo out there that I can use and doesn't need drivers for
sata to boot? Or do they all need them? I'm sick of trying to get this thing
to work!
Thanks!
