If it's switching off after a couple of seconds it really hasn't had
time to boot and would suggest a thermal fault or even a faulty power
socket.... try the computer on another wall socket and avoid multiple
power adaptors
Did you use heatsink paste or a thermal pad between the CPU and
heatsink, if the thermal pad type did you remove both layers of the
backing protection layers..?
Are the mobo FSB settings correct and does it show the correct
clocking speed in bios?
Maybe double checking the earthing screws on the mobo is a good idea.
You'll get bios boot and be able to access the bios set up screen with
just the CPU, RAM and Graphic card installed, the rest can be
disconnected....
....what happens when you power up is that the bios check's itself
out, this is called POST (Power On Self Test or bios boot up) if ok it
gives a single bleep and then hands the control over to the CPU then
the CPU tells the hard drive to load window and start up programmes
into RAM.
Getting bios to boot must be your first goal.
