Started wringing out my ATI TV-tuner. It is the pci-e X1 version of the
Theater Pro 550. Tonight I decided to try recording a show. I clicked
on the record button on screen, and it immediately said "Recording".
I let it run for a hour to the end of the show, and then shut down.
Went to the 2nd hard drive F: ( a SATA 160 ) to see what I had.
I HAD an mpg of 1.72 gig, so I tried it in Windows Media Player.
Looked absolutely great, and now I know that it is portable to other
machines. I'll try burning a dvd later, but I probably won't save this
one. It was a PBS show about the Mars Lander Project .. which
I have seen several times. Next, I'll try a scheduled recording.
That takes a lot of faith in TV GUIDE .. .which, as we all know,
is rarely correct. Anyway, color is very good. It looks like a TV.
My Hauppauge always had reddish dark color, plus, it could not
keep video-audio sync'd after about 15 minutes. This ATI Pro
pci-e card had no problem at all. Best thing about it, was the
recording session was not jargonized with nagware and error
messages. It just worked.
