Well guys the update you have all been waiting for <lol>
Got all the guys around with masses of hardware and here's what I found:
The problem was the graphics card!!!!!!!!!
You might have received a bad card, or something else is wrong
with your setup (no power connection to the card, earlier bios
revision on your motherboard (1073 or later is required to run
the 7950GX2, etc). These two pieces of hardware have been
extensively tested together by Nvidia:
http://www.nvidia.com/content/geforce_gx2_sbios/us.asp
Contrary to what Nvidia and Gainward say the Gainward Bliss 7950GX2 PCX will
not boot in an Intel D975XBX motherboard (not mine at least) with any Intel
processor (so its not just Conroe). I finished up sticking a bog standard
PCI graphics adaptor in and up she came. So no matter what I did I couldn't
get the baby to boot with the 7950 in.
This 7950 sucker is going back and I'm going to go ATI crossfire X1900.
Heh. Out of the fire and into the frying pan. Hope you enjoy
the sound of vacuum cleaners. And don't enable the fan
throttling "feature" on the X1900 or else you'll have a very
expensive piece of toast within a month.
How embarrassing for Intel seeing as AMD have just purchased ATI!!!!!
Anyone in the UK want to buy a Gainward Bliss 7950GX2 PCX cheaper than you
can get it anywhere else ?

Guys.
Can anyone here can help me please.
I am building a new High spec PC and cannot get it to boot.
The system starts and sits at a blank screen - No post, No Post beep.
Here's the spec
Intel D975XDX Rev 304 Motherboard
Intel Conroe Core 2 Extreme X6800 CPU
Corsair TWIN2X 8500C5 DDR2, 2048MB CL5, Kit w/two 1GB Dimm's, E.P.P
Technology
Gainward GeForce 7950GX2 1GB,1.4ns GDDR3
,PCI-Express,"BP7950GX2-1000-TV-DD",HDCP
PSU - I have tried 2
Antec 550W
and
Hiper Modular PSU 580 true power ATX 2.2 compatible
I connect al the components and boot the PC. all fans start but nothing
happens. no post, no beep nothing.
I have disconnected everything but the Graphics card, memory and CPU still
no good.
If I remove the memory altogether I get the memory failed beeps.
I have seen other PCs on the net with the same Mobo and Graphics card but
different memory.I have seen PCs on the net with the same Mobo and memory
but different graphics card both specs working fine.
I have tried another lower spec CPU to see if it was the BIOS or board rev
but that didn't boot either.
The Nvidia 9750 chipset is on the Intel D975XDX supported list
The Nvidia Intel Conroe Core 2 Extreme X6800 CPU is on the Intel D975XDX
supported list
Corsair memory is supported by the Intel D975XDX but probably not Corsair
TWIN2X 8500C5. However there are a number of people on the net who are
using it on this board with the X6800 CPU.
The only anomaly at the moment is this motherboard comes with a 2x4 CPU
power connector instead of the usual 2x2 but Intel supply a 2x2 to 2x4
converter cable. I have tried a Pentium D processor of a much lower spec
with the same lack of result.
Is there any difference between using a power supply with a 2x4 connector
and a power supply with a 2x2 and using a 2x2 to 2x4 converter? I wouldn't
have thought so.
I know this is a pretty rare spec box at the mo but I hope someone can
help. I'm fed up with looking at a £2,000 paper weight :-(.
Thanks Guys
Regards
Terry
