Also, I agree format first. Then load x64.

Good Luck.

I'm getting my *** kicked setting up device drivers for a media
center a1430n. I'm trying to get it off the media center edition to
XP pro-64. However I am not familiar with the x64 AMD uses nor the
Nvidia chipset.
It seems that the device drivers are very cryptic in what devices thay
are. Also they will accept multiple device drivers (almost
interchangable in nature)
If anyone can help me with a roadmap if the device driver installation
that would be great.
I have Nvidia's nForce4_amd_6.69_winxp64_english_whql and it seems to
work for the most part, however the audio drivers are a mess and I
think I installed improper drivers which is my problem.
HELP!

You are NOT trying to UPGRADE X64 over MCE, are you? If so, that's your
entire problem, right there. Never install Windows over Windows. If you
are changing Windows versions FORMAT the hard drive first.

But for any windows install, you need to install mainboard chipset drivers
(don't use the Windows default ones), then install Video drivers, then
install audio drivers. You might also need to install USB and LAN drivers,
which are part of the mainboard chipset, but not included in the mainboard
chipset drivers. -Dave
