I'm sorry for alluding you to being an aphid minded person, but I had
to get your attention.
I have a few questions for you people out there who know a lot about
computers. The first one is: How do I change the positions of
folders in the "start" button?

Right-click start, choose explore all users. Drag and drop, delete and
create new to your heart's content. :)

The second one is: How do I
create new folders in the "start" menu, (to put things in)?

See above.

Thirdly Is anyone in here an expert on windows xp and what the
differences are between windows xp and me (millenium edition) and
what that means to me (as in what differences should I look out for,
how can I use them to my advantage)?

The main difference is that XP is more stable, and (at this point in time)
it's a lot easier to find software and drivers for XP. The main thing you
need to know is that you need to do a CLEAN install of XP. Don't even think
about doing an upgrade install over Windows ME.

Fourthly how do I turn off
"remember me" in automatic remembering systems on my
internet browser?

Never heard of it. I know some browsers store passwords. If that's what
you are talking about: In firefox: tools, options, passwords. In IE,
Tools, Internet Options, Content, Personal information, AutoComplete.

Fifthly why does a second background come up when
I log off a user (on windows xp), or log in to a user?

That's just the way Windows XP is designed. You can turn it off, I think.
It's called the welcome screen. Search help for welcome screen, there is a
procedure to turn it off.

Finally what
makes the computer go faster, ram, a new microprocessor or what?

Yes. :) Actually, it might surprise you to learn that the biggest
performance improvement isn't to be gained from hardware upgrades, but
rather cleaning up your startup folder. Do start, run, msconfig, go to
startup tab, uncheck everything that doesn't need to be running. If you
aren't sure about a particular program, search it at www.sysinfo.org

But if you've cleaned that up and still want a performance boost?
Generally, less than 512MB of RAM, it's time to add more RAM. Already at
512MB or more, you should consider an upgrade to your mainboard, processor
AND RAM (and don't forget video card). Or pretty much, start over.

A side note, notice I didn't have a category to put these questions
in, well I could have if I thougth about it, which is why I chose the
subject at the very beginning of this post.
