Re: Upgrading a Compaq Presario 5000c

I went out to meet a friend for brunch Sunday morning and noticed one
of the neighbors had put an old computer out to the street.. it held a
Pentium III 650 which didn't interest me, but I did salvage the RAM..2
64 chips and one 128 The Presario didn't recognize it at first, so I
put one stick in at a time and rebooted in-between addinge each memory
stick...it worked.... 2 slots with 64 and one with 128...so I'm up to
256 now, and I'm happier. :-) It's good enough for what I need it for.

Thanks,

JDK

|Hello,

Installing a couple of 256 mb sticks of pc133 sdram will give a
significant boost to the Compaq. Note here that it is sometimes very
hard to make generic brands of RAM work in the old Compaqs.

I would stay away from the pc chips board and just have a look around
NewEgg for a combo deal.

will save you a lot of headaches. Down time on a milling machine can
get expensive.
